Overview The Admissions Coordinator supports the admissions department’s activities in the preadmission, admission, discharge, and follow up processes.
Qualifications : 1. High School Diploma required. At least one-year experience in Health Care Sales / Marketing / Insurance or commensurate education preferred. Familiar with Medical Terminology. 2. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Insurance companies etc. 3. Ability to clearly communicate with others regarding admissions procedures and financial obligations. 4. Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions, (word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.) is essential. 5. Strong organizational and analytical skills; oral and written communication skills. 6 Demonstrated abilities in independent functioning and strong leadership.
Care and Services : 1.Acts as a liaison between area hospitals and the facility to facilitate placement of residents. 2 Receives resident referrals via fax, phone call, or internet and disseminates the information to the Admissions Manager. 3.Aggressively follows up on referrals for timely decisions (organization goal is no more than 15 min to reach a decision) related to resident admission. 4. Documents and tracks pre-admission referral activity on the Daily Census Log daily. 5. Coordinates the assignment of attending physician. 6. Ensures level of care approval obtained and or OBRA screen (PASSAR, MI / MR) when indicated. 6. Confirms financial approval with business office prior to accepting resident. 7. Obtains prior approval number from payer on a per case basis when authorized. 8. Notifies Departments of anticipated admission. 9. Provides admission information to the nursing staff prior to and at the time of admissions.
