AVON PUBLIC SCHOOLSOFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENTTITLE: Director of Pupil ServicesQUALIFICATIONS: 1.Possession of a Master's Degree or higher.2.Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience.3.At least two (2) year's Administrative/Supervisory experience.4.Valid certification as an Administrator of Special Education5.Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the Department of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO: Superintendent of SchoolsJOB GOAL: To administer, supervise, and coordinate Guidance Services, Special Education, Health Services, School Psychological Services, related support services and ELL, as well as to perform other related support services assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: AREA: SPECIAL EDUCATION1.Administers, supervises, and coordinates all Special Education Services of the Avon Public Schools.2.Assumes responsibility for the full implementation of laws and regulations governing the delivery of Special Education Services.3.Assists in the adaptation of school policies to include the special needs of students.4.Interprets the various objectives and programs of Special Education to the community.5.Keeps informed of all the various aspects of legal requirements governing Special Education.6.Maintains all records, as required by related laws and regulations.7.Assumes the responsibility of compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports and records legally required and/or administratively requested relative to Special Education.8.Evaluates existing programs, as ongoing responsibility and recommends changes deemed necessary.9.Meets regularly with all Special Education staff to discuss mutual concerns.10.Develops inservice training programs for staff members as necessary.11.Prepares related budgets in collaboration with the Business Office staff.12.Works closely with the Superintendent in the preparation of related State Reports.13.Arranges for the transportation of Special Education students.14.Implements a case-finding plan to identify potential cases of children needing student services.AREA: PUPIL SERVICES1.Administers, supervises, and coordinates all Pupil Services of the Avon Public Schools.2.Maintains all records, as required by related laws and regulations.3.Assumes the responsibility of compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports and records legally required and/or administratively requested relative to Pupil Services.4.Interprets the various objectives and programs of Pupil Services to the School Committee, the administration, the staff and the public. 5.Keeps informed of all the various aspects of legal requirements governing Pupil Services.6.Evaluates existing programs, as ongoing responsibility and recommends changes deemed necessary.7.Meets periodically with all Pupil Services' staff to discuss mutual concerns.8.Prepares related Pupil Service budgets in collaboration with the Business AREA: SYSTEM-WIDE/CENTRAL OFFICE1.Assists in recruitment, selection, and recommendation for hiring of any new staff under his/her supervision.2.Prepares and administers district grant programs pertaining to the areas of responsibility.3.Contributes to the development of the total school philosophy of Education of the Avon Public Schools.4.Assumes the responsibility of the development, revision, implementation and evaluation of district curriculum.5.Assumes the responsibility of the development, implementation and evaluation of district professional development.6.Assumes responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development; for keeping current with the literature, new research findings, and improved techniques; for attending appropriate professional meetings.7.Oversees the ordering and disbursement of budget items related to areas under his/her supervision.8.Conducts formal evaluations of all staff members under his/her supervision and recommends reappointment, professional teacher status, and dismissal.9.Plans, develops and supervises system-wide and State testing programs.10.Performs such other tasks and assumes other responsibilities assigned by the Superintendent.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-Month year - Salary and working conditions as established by the Superintendent under parameters as authorized by the School Committee.EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated by the Superintendent in accordance with the provisions of the School Committee's adopted Administrators' Evaluation Procedures.
Salary : $78,500 - $99,400
