POSITION SUMMARY
Awaken Christian Academy is committed to being a Christ-centered, biblically based community serving the students and families entrusted to us. Teachers are the school’s most important resource, and they are the primary instructors and caregivers to the students during the day.
JOB SUMMARY
The Preschool Teacher establishes and enforces rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible. Teachers observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health. This position models Christian beliefs, thoughts, and actions (on and off the job) to the students as they teach. The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Collaborate with the Director and other teachers in the planning, supervision, and implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum that agrees with the school philosophy and includes the total development of the child in a loving Christian atmosphere.
- Maintain licensing mandated child to teacher ratios at all times.
- Keep classroom, playground, resources, equipment, and physical environment clean and safe.
- Observe and evaluate students’ behavior, performance, social development, and physical health.
- Prepare materials and classroom for daily activities.
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
- Meet with parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic problems.
- Meet with parents and guardians to discuss children’s progress, and to determine their priorities for their children and their resource needs.
- Must be patient, able to respond calmly, and make rational decisions.

Job Requirements
- Holding a minimum of a CDA; AA or BA in Early Education is preferred.
- Must be CPR/First Aid/AED certified within 90 days of hire.
- Must hold a current Sheriff’s Card.
- Must have a heart for the mission and drive of ACA.
- Must have a strong alignment with Awaken Las Vegas.
- Must be able to speak, read and write conversational English.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to communicate in English verbally and orally.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to able to maneuver around the classroom and campus.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 30 lbs.
