Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Feed Mill Supervisor to support daily mill production and team coordination. This role partners closely with the Feed Location Manager to ensure safe, efficient feed manufacturing while maintaining strong operational standards and customer service. The ideal candidate enjoys leading people, working in an active industrial environment, and taking ownership of production quality and facility upkeep.

This position involves feed mixing, forklift operation, inventory coordination, and physical work including lifting feed bags and working at heights when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate computerized batching and control systems, including entering formulas and adjusting feed rations as needed

• Coordinate the intake and storage of raw feed ingredients

• Support scheduling and coordination of labor and truck movement

• Assist with inventory tracking and product flow

• Understand feed formulations and sequencing to ensure accurate production

• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout the mill facility

• Conduct regular inspections of equipment, buildings, and grounds; communicate issues to management

• Perform basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and general repair tasks

• Identify opportunities to improve workflow, equipment performance, or facility efficiency

• Verify completion and effectiveness of assigned maintenance or operational tasks

• Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and regulatory updates

• Ensure all feed products meet United Cooperative quality standards and comply with applicable state and federal regulations

• Represent United Cooperative with professionalism and a positive, team-focused attitude

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of relevant industrial, agricultural, or manufacturing experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

• Experience operating production or material-handling equipment

• Working knowledge of DOT guidelines and transportation compliance

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with team members, leadership, and customers

• Demonstrated leadership ability and willingness to guide and support employees

• Clear verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing demands

• Comfortable making operational decisions that impact workflow and personnel

• Basic math and measurement skills

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Frequent lifting of materials weighing up to 80 pounds

• Regular bending, reaching, climbing, and working in elevated areas

• Routine exposure to operating machinery and moving equipment

• Exposure to feed dust; use of required personal protective equipment is mandatory

• Occasional work in confined spaces and varying weather conditions following proper training

• Elevated noise levels in certain areas; hearing protection may be required
