Awanui Labs is seeking a fulltime pathologist for our Awanui Canterbury Anatomical Pathology department.
Awanui Labs Canterbury is part of the Awanui Group. Awanui is the largest provider of Pathology services in New Zealand and have laboratories throughout the country. We have provided pathology services to doctors and patients in New Zealand since 1960. Awanui Canterbury provides pathology services for the Canterbury and South Canterbury regions.
At our Canterbury site we have 6 anatomical pathologists operating out of a modern laboratory, you will have access to state-of-the-art, on-site diagnostic immunohistochemistry with highly competent histology technical staff and a full range of diagnostic molecular testing services.
Competency in general surgical pathology including experience in dermatopathology is essential. The referrals are predominantly skin, breast, gynecologic, urologic, ENT, and gastrointestinal samples. There is no autopsy pathology. The pathologists run a Fine Needle Aspiration clinic on rotation; experience in FNA cytology is preferred.
Christchurch is known as the garden city, situated on the seaward side on the Canterbury plains. The plains themselves and the backdrop of the magnificent Southern Alps leave the city with an unrivalled outdoor playground on its doorstep, mountain biking, hiking, and snow sports are all close at hand.
The successful candidate will need to hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia or a recognised postgraduate qualification and be eligible for registration as a specialist pathologist by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
