Job Description
We are seeking an individual to support the installation of a solar monitoring system (SMS) near Adrian, MI on behalf of one of our valued clients. The station consists of solar panels, tripods, and scientific measurement equipment surrounded by a locked chain link fence. The purpose of this project is to monitor the solar resource and other meteorological parameters.
The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the equipment's accuracy and reliability through weekly maintenance visits. These visits will include:
Occasionally, UL Solutions may request assistance in replacing or troubleshooting equipment. A Senior Engineer will provide remote guidance and support while onsite, and review data after the equipment repair.
Requirements
No prior experience in solar energy is required, as training will be provided remotely via phone and video, with potential onsite training when possible. The ideal candidate must be able to receive instructions remotely throughout the contract term. They must also use their own transportation to and from the remote SMS location, preferably using a 4WD vehicle. The ability to walk to and from the site, typically no more than 1/4 mile in one direction, is necessary. Furthermore, the candidate must have access to a gas or battery-operated weedwhacker for occasional grass management, additional compensation will be provided. Climbing and working comfortably from a 6 or 8-foot ladder (provided) is also a requirement. The individual must demonstrate computer literacy, including the ability to upload attachments with their own version of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) to our SharePoint website with reliable internet. A smartphone is required to take site photos as well as communicate with UL Solutions' staff while on site in case of an emergency. Confidentiality of all applicable information is mandatory.

$150 per visit plus additional compensation for occasional grass management
