Job Description:
Oversee the entire CA Roadway group in our transportation practice of the company. Responsible directing and managing teams of engineers focused on transportation-related projects in multiple geographic markets. Required to interface with clients, and Federal, Local, and State government contacts for municipal projects located anywhere within the country and travel is required.
Primary Job Duties:

Group Leader:
- Lead a diverse team and contribute to the continuous growth of the CA Roadway group
- Contribute positively to a committed, professional team environment
- Manage the financial performance and reporting requirements of our CA Roadway group
- Recruit key CA Roadway group staff to extend our practice capabilities
- Mentor CA Roadway group staff for their career development.
- Strategic life-cycle management of tools, equipment, and technology for CA Roadway group

Project Management:
- Develop project scopes and budgets, interface with and maintain clients, mentor and development of junior staff, and development of project plans and schedules
- Meet with clients to prepare and or validate proposed scopes of work
- Prepare fee proposals for civil engineering design and construction observation work
- Ensures internal communication and coordination of design efforts occurs
- Contribute technical specialization for the transportation practice
- Provide technical knowledge in transportation engineering for federal, state, and local governments

Senior Roadway Project Engineer:
- Lead the roadway-geometric technical design aspects for a variety of transportation projects, including coordination with other team members and disciplines
- Apply a broad understanding of civil engineering concepts to reach innovative and interdependent solutions
- Prepare and check plans, earthwork/3D models, design calculations, geometric fact sheets, quantities, cost estimates, technical specifications, special provisions, and reports
- Create project work plans to track and manage roadway design budget and design team for projects when assigned
- Participate in inter-discipline quality reviews. Perform checking and design quality reviews
- Read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and reports
- Collect, analyze, and summarize project data. Prepare findings and make recommendations based on analytical data, including maps, graphics, charts, tables, presentations, and written reports
- Perform effective technical writing and correspondence including technical write-ups for proposals
- Assist with business development and marketing efforts on transportation project pursuits
- Ensure the completion of work based on budgets and project schedules
- Demonstrate clear and concise, oral and written communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings, resources, and presentations
- Must be able to demonstrate successful records of Business Development, program/project management for established A-E firms, managing budgeted design efforts, and demonstrated skills working in multi-discipline teams
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills):
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of ten (10) years of transportation engineering experience
- Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) and eligible for registration in the States where AZTEC has offices
- DOT and municipality experience in all facets of engineering for multiple states
- Good analytical, problem solving and data management skills are essential
- Must be a good communicator with experience in including technical writing, and oral presentation
- Must demonstrate ability to manage projects, develop work, and provide excellent client service
- Travel required when necessary.
- Proven knowledge and skills in both MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of roadway modeling software a plus: Civil 3D and InRoads
- Proficiency with Bentley and/or AutoDesk products, including ProjectWise, MicroStation, OpenRoads, and AutoCAD
- Experience with InRoads/OpenRoads Designer and/or Civil 3D experience required
- Ability to lead a roadway design team for geometric design, road safety design, earthwork modeling, maintenance of traffic, contract document preparation, quality reviews
- Project/task management- schedule tasks, assign resources, monitor progress on scope/schedule/budget, discipline communication and coordination
- Marketing experience is a plus
- Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project, and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
