The 3D BIM/VDC Detailing professional is responsible for developing detailed drawings in accordance with our company's Duct Standards. The position carries the responsibility to ensure that the work is implemented effectively within cost, schedule, and accuracy parameters.

Job Responsibilities:

Design Standards –

• Works in conformity with company Pipe and Duct CAD Standards and detailing practices.
• Participates in the improvement of company's Pipe and Duct CAD Standards and detailing practices.

Software Proficiency –

• Possesses a working knowledge and ability to use software platforms required to produce accurate production level drawing.
• Has proficiency or shows willingness and initiative to learn advanced BIM tools.
• Stays up to date on current and future software development to maintain proficiency.

Detailing Proficiency –

• Establishes drawings and document format required to complete job.
• Understands and complies with job specific scope and requirements.
• Generates concise Request For Information (RFI’s) or field questions when questions or discrepancies arise on contract drawings or specifications.
• Verifies that all drawings are complete to a constructible state.
• Consistently reviews shop drawings to ensure quality and accuracy prior to distribution to the field.
• Verifies that all RFI’s written are followed through to construction drawings.
• Modifies drawings as changes occur and expedite changes to field.
• Creates accurate record drawings from red-lined field markups.
• Creates clean, usable working backgrounds.

Interdepartmental communications –

• Communicates with Project Supervision to determine detailing scope.
• Assists project staff with drawing requirements and priorities.
• Participates in project coordination efforts and coordinates changes into drawings.

Communication Skills -

• Communicates effectively and keep open lines of communication with BIM/VDC Manager and Field Team.
• Communicates any outstanding job or departmental issues with the BIM/VDC Manager.
• Participates in department meetings and communicates ideas for improvement.

Minimum Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree in design/drafting or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum five (5) years work experience in commercial HVAC.
• Proficiency with software tools including, AutoCAD, Navisworks, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related 3D detailing software tools.

It is the responsibility of the incumbent in the role to ensure he/she has received all pertinent safety protective equipment and commits to use of same when performing in the role.
Follows company safety regulations. Completes proper safety training as determined by Department Manager.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to hear and speak clearly with professional standard grammar.
Must be able to walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, reach overhead, push, pull, lift and carry up to 30 lbs., must have dexterity of fingers (or mechanical substitutions).
