What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plating Operations Supervisor position at B & M Precision Inc?
The Operation Supervisor will play a vital role in leading, motivating, training, and guiding all the personnel in the Chrome Plating area. Their goal will be to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency in order to meet Production’s requirements. They will monitor all production lines and waste management system to ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and B&M’s standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee/Supervise Plating Operations
- Supervisory – Ensure leads and employees follow all policies and procedures, and assist with HR as needed.
- Production – Ensure leads manage operator / workload to meet production demand.
- Maintenance – Ensure preventative or predictive maintenance activities related to plating line, waste treatment, ventilation, and auxiliary equipment.
- Waste Management – Ensure waste treatment is operational to meet daily output of all lines.
- Safety Compliance – Ensure all safety protocols are followed in compliance with regulations and company policies.
- Technical / Mechanical – Ability to help troubleshoot technical issues with chemistry, mechanical, or electrical problems.
- Quality Control - Ensure all quality system requirements throughout the plating process and waste management process are followed.
- Training - Ensure necessary training, work instructions, control plans, and tools are provided to plating personnel to maintain process parameters to specifications.
- Documentation – Maintain all records needed for Quality, Production, HR
- Continuous Improvement – Strive evaluate processes for gaps in efficiency, safety, or quality and work to implement improvement through collaboration with appropriate teams.
Some of the key requirements of a qualified candidate would be:

On the Chemical Baths side
- Safety Compliance, PPE, Hazmat
- Understands chemistry testing/sampling, handling
- Knowledge of EPA/OSHA standards
- Monitor, Maintain, Recognize and React to changing chemistry and anode performance
- Able to test and titrate Chrome, EP, and other baths to main chemistry

Waste Treatment or Chemical treatment
- Experience preferred, or at a minimum understand of how these operate
- Evaporators
- Filtration, pressure checks for air ventilation and other systems

Worked in a production environment
- Understands production demand
- Scheduling jobs, crew, and resources

Supervisory
- Experience in leading at least 5-10 employees
- Proven leadership skills, team building, and effectively addressing disciplinary challenges.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree: Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Operations, Business)
- 5 years’ experience working with Plating, Hazardous Chemicals, Waste Management or in a related field

Job Physical Requirements
- Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to reach, stoop, or bend. Overhead work and working at heights when necessary.
- Ability to work 40 – 60 hours per week, including weekends and holiday work.
- Use PPE to safely handle hazardous materials.
Schedule: Monday thru Thursday: (7:30am - 5pm) & Friday: (7:30am- 11:30am)
