Backyard BBQ – SF (Catering and Social Media Manager)

SUMMARY

  • The Catering Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of all catered events (i.e. weddings, rehearsal dinners, small & large corporate events, and deliveries).
  • Grow Catering sales to $800,000.00 dollars in 2025 (must be willing to cold call, email, and network within different groups to attain this achievable goal) while utilizing available social media and online tools.
  • Catering Manager will be responsible for execution of each catered event, hiring, development and performance evaluation of catering employees. In addition, will help oversee the inventory and purchase of food and supplies, with primary goal of optimizing profits and ensure guest satisfaction with each catered experience.
  • Keep food cost at 28% and labor at 20%.
  • Meet with the General Manager on a weekly basis to touch base about prior/upcoming events, discuss catering sales, social media opportunities and strategize to meet goals.
  • The Catering Manager will report to the owner.

General

  • Oversee and manage all areas of each catered event contracted by Q Holdings – LLC
  • Oversee catering social media posting, marketing campaigns and reach different avenues to reach new audiences.
  • Analyzing the company’s catering & digital marketing plan and social media strategy and identifying strategic weaknesses and making recommendations for improvements
  • Researching social media trends and informing management of changes that are relevant to the company’s marketing activities
  • Using social media marketing tools to create and maintain the company’s brand

Financial

  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food, beverage, supply, utility, and labor costs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all financial (invoices, reporting) and personnel/payroll-related administrative duties are completed accurately, on time and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Follow allotted marketing budgets.

Food safety and planning

  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and catering areas. Ensure compliance with safety/sanitation standards, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
  • Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
  • Maintain professional catering image, including cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  • Estimate food and beverage costs.
  • Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
  • Estimate food needs, place orders with distributors, and schedule the delivery of fresh food and supplies.
  • SERV Safe certification is required and or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
  • Will uphold all SERV Safe guidelines.

Guest service

  • Ensure positive guest service in all processes of the catering order, from start to finish. Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return catering clients.
  • Develop a feedback survey for catering clients and send out after each event.

Operational responsibilities

  • Ensure that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests, and company assets.
  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Completes accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured.
  • Manage shifts which include daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.

Personnel

  • Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
  • Interview hourly employees. Direct hiring, supervision, development and, when necessary, termination of employees.
  • Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date plan of catering staffing needs. Prepare schedules and ensure that all catered events are staffed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A combination of practical experience and education will be considered as an alternative.
  • Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel).
  • Proficient in the following dimensions of Catered functions: Cold calling, email food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and preparation of reports.
  • • Social media: The ability to use social media to maintain or build a brand is necessary to be a Social Media Manager. These professionals are expected to regularly post text, video and images that engage the company’s target market, follow online conversations on a company’s social media accounts and solve customer concerns using social media platforms.
  • Communication: Great verbal and written communication skills are essential for this occupation. A Social Media Manager must interact with writers, designers, developers and customers and report to senior management personnel. As good communicators, these professionals must identify social media events such as an interesting hashtag or a sensitive topic and share appropriate content that aligns with the company’s social media strategy.
  • Technology: Computer skills, skills in using social media platforms and skills in using tools that analyze social media platforms are requirements for this position. A Social Media Manager must use digital technologies to meet the goals of social media campaigns.
  • Research: Skills in learning social media trends, identifying new social media tools and finding real-time online conversations are necessary for this position. Social Media Managers must have an understanding of the trends and techniques of social media as well as the company’s online presence to effectively handle social media marketing.
  • Time management: The skill of organizing tasks to meet deadlines is essential for this professional role. Social Media Managers work according to schedules and must meet marketing and business goals.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing.
  • Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that food and service meet appropriate standards.
  • Must possess effective communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.

ACCOUNTABILITIES.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
  • Meet Yearly Sales Goal while working in conjunction with the owner.
  • Responsible for catering vehicles (oil changes, routine maintenance and making sure there is gas in the vehicles).
  • Consistently post and update social media, bring new and fresh ideas for marketing.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Hours may vary if the manager must fill in for his/her employees or if emergencies arise (typical work week = 50 hours during peak season, off-season hours = 45 hours).
  • Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting products and supplies weighing up to 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist motion.

Vacation/Holiday Pay

  • Vacation accrues at .5 days per month (6 days per year)
  • All Vacation days must be approved 2 week prior to using them.
  • Paid Holiday’s (Easter Day, Labor Day, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day & New Year’s Day (7 days per year))

Benefits

  • Q holdings - LLC provides a monthly allowance for Health Insurance, after 90 days (about 3 months). Allowance covers individual insurance.

Salary

  • If the offer is extended, the salary is $50-55k per year with a minimum of 45 hours per week.
  • Bonus (2-4% of net sales from all catered events (this requires scheduling employees and making sure each event has the proper amount of product and supplies ready for it) if it’s a new event which BYG – SF LLC hasn’t participated in the commission is 6-8% on events greater than $750, otherwise regular commissions rate) If there is a cost or a percentage of sales that is taken out for an event your commission will be paid out after that expense commission has been subtracted. All commissions are paid out when the event is completed.
  • Commissions will be added to each paycheck weekly unless opted to have bonus check (taxable) paid monthly. Please specify what option would be desired.
  • Annual Reviews
