What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media Manager position at Baked by Melissa?
The Social Media Manager is responsible for managing and executing Baked by Melissa’s various social media accounts. We are looking for someone who has passion for creating content and engaging with the community, a great eye for design–a quick thinking go-getter with a genuine interest in the ever-changing social media landscape, excellent written communication skills, organizational skills, judgment, and attention to detail.
What You’ll Do
- Create engaging, on-brand, social content for all channels that pushes boundaries while remaining true to the Baked by Melissa voice and aesthetic.
- Act as a thought partner, in collaboration with the CEO, on how to continuously maximize channel effectiveness/engagement and keep content fresh.
- Own the content calendar for each platform, creating, scheduling, & executing content in partnership with the CEO. This includes recipe content, organic marketing & paid marketing.
- Tasks supporting execution of content may include, but are not limited to, procuring ingredients, resourcing props, camera/shoot set-up, filming, editing.
- Work closely with the CEO, Marketing and Creative teams to ensure the social calendar is fully integrated into all campaigns, aligns with broader company objectives and reflects our brand voice/aesthetic consistently.
- Report on insights and trends on a regular basis, using data and research to guide the continued evolution of our social media strategy, try new things and educate internal partners.
- Organize and manage a paid content calendar, pitching in as needed from a development standpoint and reporting on KPIs upon completion.
- Devise and implement brand-right strategies for increasing engagement and follower counts (IE: giveaways, collaborations, etc.).
- Uphold and communicate Baked by Melissa’s vision, mission and values.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field preferred, but not required if you have the right experience.
- 2 years of relevant work experience.
- A strong understanding of social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, and an interest in social media management.
- Proven experience creating social media content on a variety of platforms–focused on food is a major plus. We’d love to see your work!
- Proven experience photographing or capturing food-related content–familiarity with video-editing software is a major plus.
- Demonstrated personal presence on various social media platforms.
- Familiarity with Adobe Suite (preferred) & intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite programs & Google Suite required.
