POSITION SUMMARYThe Production Leader will provide overall leadership in the operational unit(s) assigned to with their primary focus being on day-to-day activities which ensure the reliable manufacturing of quality products to support the production schedule. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrimary individual accountable for unit performance in EHS, quality, cost performance, productivity, personnel development, and continuous improvement. Sets measurable annual goals and objectives in all key functional areas.Responsible for site EHS/Responsible Care functions with emphasis on process safety management (PSM), occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental regulatory compliance. Ensures unit compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local environmental, health, and safety regulatory requirements.Performs weekly housekeeping and safety "walk around" inspections to establish the "standards of performance" in these areas and to drive forward front line leadership and employee individual accountability.Develops and tracks key performance metrics for the unit(s) and communicates results visually to unit employees and through monthly reports to Site Leadership Team.Develops and implements data management systems that enable the routine analysis of EHS, quality, production, productivity, cost performance, reliability, overtime, Six Sigma savings, etc. Specifically tracks and analyzes downtime, capacity utilization, imperfect production, batch cycle times, product yields, and production schedule adherence to identify improvement opportunity areas.Responsible for energy (steam, gas, electricity, nitrogen, water) cost and efficiency tracking in his/her unit. Implements and/or recommends projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce cost.Responsible for hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation in his/her unit. Implements and/or recommends improvements to reduce waste volumes and costs.Tracks products made in his/her unit and uses data to drive CpK improvement through operational and engineering improvements.Works with Supply Chain function to develop production schedules that optimize finished goods and raw materials inventory levels.Develops and prioritizes capital project ideas (EHS, cost reduction, growth, and sustaining) for his/her unit and serves as project sponsor and/or as a project team member.Responsible for the unit's fixed, utilities, and non-processing cost budget. Tracks spending and analyzes variances monthly. Identifies opportunities to drive out non-value added costs.Responsible for unusual incident investigation completion driving to root cause determination and corrective action implementation.Identifies and tracks EHS and operational training requirements for unit employees and tracks completion compliance.Responsible for ensuring planned maintenance (PM) inspections (including PSM MI inspections) are completed in the unit in accordance with established schedules.Responsible for development of robust SOP's and assurance that these SOP's are reviewed and updated on a regular basis in accordance with PSM and company requirements.Works collaboratively with and networks with other Production Leaders in the plant and across the company to ensure shared learnings and rapid deployment of best practices.Responsible for ensuring ISO 9001 certification is maintained for the unit and that internal audits in the unit are completed in a timely manner and that findings are promptly addressed through corrective actions.Works closely with site process engineers and site/R&D chemists to support new product development and commercialization.Responsible for career development and performance achievement plan development for all direct reports and to ensure annual goals are developed, prioritized, and achieved.JOB QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEMinimum 5 total years' experience in chemical manufacturing environment in roles of increasing responsibility, must have served in production or process engineering role for at least 2 years.Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint required (or equivalent software tools)Basic understanding of Federal environmental and safety regulations preferred (air, waste, water, PSM, OSHA)Six Sigma formal trainingSAP knowledge and experience preferred, especially with Material Management and FinanceEDUCATIONBS engineering degree in chemical engineering preferred, but demonstrated plant experience and leadership will be considered as an alternative for the preferred degree. SPECIAL NEEDS/SKILLSTechnical expertise - demonstrated competency in resin manufacturing, process capability analysis, statistical data analysis.Effective relationships - able to work effectively within all levels of the organization, treating people with respect and valuing individual differences. Able to gather support based on building trust and credibility.Capacity for change - ability to recognize and articulate why change is necessary and has the ability to convince others to support needed changes. Also visionary in terms of knowing what the"future state" organization should look like.Business acumen - working knowledge of how businesses function including P&L financials, business team operation, strategy development, goal setting, and cost management.Customer focus - outward understanding of customer requirements and needs and the ability to interact with customers and give them a sense of confidence that the site understands their needs and works diligently to meet these needs.Results oriented - clearly results focused as demonstrated through establishment of clear goals, objectives, functional metrics, and business metrics.Communication - must be able to communicate effectively with all audiences - both in writing and verbally.Temperament - must possess an even and balanced temperament which enables leadership and decision making under a stressful and constantly changing environment.

Salary : $80,000 - $112,000
