Bakery Production Assistant

JOB SUMMARY

Bakery Production Assistants select and remove product from line operations, place goods onto trays and carts, move carts to appropriate areas of the bakery. They assist with some basic duties in bakery line operations. They also help package and prepare product for shipping, and assist with record keeping.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assemble boxes, package products and label boxes according to product specifications and operation of metal detectors.
• Assure proper product weights and quality standards are utilized at all times.
• Save samples for Quality Assurance as indicated in Product Specification book.
• Maintain all records as applicable, including knowledge of and ability to follow lot tracking program.
• Move pans/trays with product in various ways including filling batter into pans, placing paper liners into pans, icing of product and other various process as assigned.
• Place product and pans/trays appropriately onto conveyor belt at a steady and efficient pace. Pans are then placed on racks and racks placed into proof boxes and/or baking areas.
• Will follow all company policies and procedures to produce safe, quality and legal products.
• When needed, remove garbage material from production areas and keep area clean using mops, brooms, etc.
• Assist in other areas of production as needed to efficiently produce product utilizing lean manufacturing principles.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS

• Knowledge of HACCP and GMP procedures.
• Must possess above average skills of the English language (understanding, speaking and reading). Must be able to perform simple math problems, including addition, subtraction and multiplication.
• Bending, stooping, walking, reaching, grasping, carrying, repetitive motions and visual skills are required on a constant basis. Ability to stand on feet for entire work shift.
• Ability to carry trays and pans on a continuous basis, weighing 15 to 20 pounds, and place these pans and trays on racks.
• Ability to lift cases of product and ingredients, etc. weighing 15 to 30 pounds on a continuous basis. Occasional lifting up to 52 pounds.
• Ability to push and pull racks, pan carts, flat carts, etc. where needed of various weights. The effort required varies due to the size of cart and the size of roller and casters.
• Ability to move conveyors and machinery of different weights and resistances on casters to form production lines.
• Must possess problem-solving and good communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
• Ability to think safety and work safely at all times and must follow all proper ergonomic and safety practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.66 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
