Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Counseling Position

9-MONTH TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF COUNSELING :

Baldwin Wallace University’s Department of Counseling invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counseling position beginning August 2025. This is an on-campus position at Baldwin Wallace University located in Berea, OH (approximately 15 miles west of downtown Cleveland). We are seeking a counselor educator with a strong sense of professional counselor identity to join our new Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Counseling / Counselor Education from a CACREP-Accredited program prior to August 2025 and be licensed as a counselor (or licensure eligible) in Ohio. Additionally, candidates should have a strong professional counselor identity, evidence of strong teaching potential, counseling experience, and potential for scholarly productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

• Maintain a 21 credit hour teaching load across fall and spring semesters (opportunities for additional summer teaching are available).
• Demonstrate a commitment to quality teaching and student experience.
• Develop a record of scholarship through research, publications, or presentations.
• Provide service to the counseling profession at local, state, and / or national levels, and participate collaboratively in program, department, college, and university governance.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF COUNSELING :

The mission of the Counseling Department at Baldwin Wallace University is to prepare ethical and compassionate counselors with excellent skills who are ready to meet the mental health needs of diverse individuals across the lifespan. Our counseling faculty members value excellence in teaching and utilize a wide variety of real-world learning experiences to provide students with a high-quality graduate education. Along with teaching, counseling faculty members engage in counseling-related clinical work, service, and scholarship to benefit the university and surrounding communities.

The Department of Counseling at Baldwin Wallace was founded in 2023 and houses a master’s degree program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) approved by the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board. The CMHC program is in the process of seeking CACREP-Accreditation. The department plans to add further counseling degree programs in the coming years.
