Position Summary
The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the daily and monthly accounting operations of the organization. This role is ideal for a candidate with a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and a desire to grow within a dynamic and fast-paced sports business environment. The Staff Accountant will play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records for a Major League Baseball club.

The anticipated base salary for this role is $60,000 - $68,000 annually depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries for a variety of business activities including revenue, accruals, and prepaid expenses
- Own month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of general ledger account reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations
- Support fixed asset accounting and monthly depreciation schedules
- Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules
- Work closely with AP, AR, and payroll teams to ensure transaction accuracy
- Provide accounting support for special events, stadium operations, and off-season initiatives
- Assist in audit preparation and respond to auditor requests as needed
- Help implement process improvements and enhance accounting procedures and controls
- Collaborate with departments across the organization to ensure financial compliance and reporting accuracy
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA certification or CPA exam in progress
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Business Central, Oracle, SAP)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience in the sports, entertainment, or hospitality industry
- Familiarity with budgeting tools and financial reporting systems
- Team player with a collaborative mindset
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and reliable, with a strong sense of accountability
- This position is based on site in Baltimore, MD
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required during the season or fiscal deadlines
