What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electronics Technician position at Banks Power?

Turbocharged high-performance engine developer and manufacturer, Banks Power, is looking for a dedicated Electronics Technician to build, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental electronics systems, subsystems and equipment. This position reports to Electrical Engineering Group Manager.

Main responsibilities

  • Research and identify function specific vehicle connectors and terminals, document findings, source components and build prototype wire-harnesses. Generate wire-harness drawings and perform First Article inspection on production wire-harnesses.
  • Analyze manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to locate and define electrical/electronic signals in vehicles. Utilize test equipment including oscilloscope and VOM for characterizing and documenting those same electrical/electronic signals.
  • Perform installation of prototypes, pre-production systems and sub-systems for evaluation. Check functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Assemble SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) and thru-hole printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) using industry-standard/proper soldering and re-work techniques.
  • Troubleshoot/diagnose electronic circuitry down to the component level using test equipment (oscilloscopes, VOMs, signal generators, etc…), schematic circuit diagrams and component data sheets. Repair diagnosed circuitry using thru-hole and SMD (surface-mount-device) re-work/soldering equipment and observing industry-standard ESD-preventive procedures.
  • Organize, maintain and track stock levels of prototype parts inventory.

Qualifications
Required

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electronics Technician, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient at building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying developmental electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and/or write, analyze, interpret and create engineering documents, technical drawings, technical specifications and test results.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to follow instructions and learn.
  • Effectively deal with changing demands and priorities.

Preferred

  • AS degree in Electronics
  • Possess automotive knowledge
  • Ability to cleanly and professionally assemble SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) and thru-hole printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) using industry-standard/proper soldering and re-work techniques. Be aware of and observe proper ESD practices.
  • Willing to learn to make wiring diagrams using computer software

Hourly pay
$25—$29 USD

Actual pay offered to candidates will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant candidates' experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
