As a Design Team member, you will have these example responsibilities:
  • Professional communication with leading global brands and Banner clients
  • Correspondence with US and International government IP agencies or departments
  • Developing a reputation for quality service and responsiveness for internal as well as external clients.
  • Design analysis, for example comparing new proposals to prior art, including preparation of written analysis or argument
  • Helping to ensure that all deadlines are met
  • Entering billable time as necessary and appropriate
  • Functioning as a resource to Banner attorneys for client special projects
  • Assembling various reports for internal and external use and presenting results
  • Understanding how to use internal systems for docketing, billing and tracking
You will gain loads of experience in this role, but before you do, you must have:
  • At least a four-year college degree with excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Good judgement and resilience under stress of deadlines and demands
  • A strong work ethic and sense of responsibility, reliability, and responsiveness
  • The ability to work in in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects at hand
  • Self-direction and ability to work independently
  • Energy and a desire to troubleshoot problems and find solutions
  • The ability to effectively manage workloads to meet deadlines, while delivering high-quality work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel); data manipulation and formatting is a must
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
If you have any of the following experience it is a huge plus:
  • Previous paralegal experience or experience working in law firm environment or corporate legal environment
  • Prior experience with patent prosecution
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of USPTO rules and practices, including M.P.E.P. Chapter 1500, e-Office Action, use of public/private PAIR and other online USPTO resources
  • A strong work ethic and sense of responsibility, reliability, and responsiveness

Banner Witcoff offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, a 35-hour workweek (overtime as necessary), business-casual attire, and a friendly office environment.
