Job Responsibilities
Prepares and maintains accurate accounting records using established policies and procedures in order to properly reflect operating results and financial position. Performs other duties as assigned. Provides high level physician practice financial analysis for the organization and performs other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities
- Leads the direction of financial analysis and ensures accurate and timely reporting of the department
- Works in coordination with BMG senior leadership to develop internal reporting and other operational metrics
- Works in coordination with corporate accounting to ensure compliance with system wide reporting standards and initiatives
- Oversees development of analytics and reporting processes
- Supervises analytical staff
- Performs and reviews analysis on financial and operational data
- Serves as a lead in month end close process
- Provides financial planning support, expertise and group facilitation for the defined financial performance improvement initiatives
- Prepares financial budgets/forecasts and related sensitivity analysis on the defined financial performance initiatives.
- Provides a vehicle in which to measure the progress and identify potential obstacles in achieving the initiative's overall goals
- Demonstrates an ability to evaluate and maintain the proper level of data integrity within the data warehouses of all available financial information systems.
- Demonstrates computer proficiency with all System financial information systems including core transaction systems, decision support system, data warehouse and PC Financial Application tools to complete internal and external work products.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate the results and implications of any of the following financial management activities: 1. Monthly Close/GL Reporting 2. Service Line Profitability 3. Cost Accounting 4. Capital Projects 5. Budgets and Financial Plans 6. Special Projects 7. External Benchmarks and Market Data in both written and oral formats.
- Ensures that the users of the information are well prepared and briefed on the context in which the information is provided (e.g. background, history, future events).
- Assists the users of the information in understanding the economic and operational implications of the data and accompanying analysis.
- Presents findings and recommendations to senior management, performance improvement teams, quality review teams and other stakeholders in a confident, professional manner.
- Completes assigned goals.
Required experiences and skills
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration, finance or management preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.
- 5 years of experience in finance or healthcare administration required. 7 years of experience in finance or healthcare preferred. Strong financial management and analytical skills.
- Leadership skills and the ability to lead teams and/or projects across departments or entities.
- Strong computer skill set with Microsoft Office programs, particularly with Excel and experience using reports from health care financial management or clinical systems and database management systems.
