Overview
Barley Excavating is currently seeking a Project Manager to support our underground utility and earth moving company.
Founded in 1983, Barley Excavating is a well-established heavy construction contractor that provides diversified construction services throughout northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
Barley Excavating works primarily with municipalities, state and federal agencies, and large commercial clients. The company specializes in underground utility construction, as well as heavy grading and mass excavation. Barley maintains a pre-qualified status with both Michigan and Wisconsin Departments of Transportation.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager responsibilities include:
Evaluate bid specifications and drawings, solicit material and subcontractor quotes, and ensure the required pricing is available to successfully bid and secure the project.
Plans, organize, coordinate and control project(s) in accordance with bid specifications and drawings.
Draft and/or review preliminary project schedules, financial projections, and cost-to-complete for the duration of the project.
Survey and project layout.
Direct and supervise work of project administration staff, as well as work in partnership with project foremen to establish operational priorities.
Maintain relationships with owners and subcontractors. Responsible for day-to-day contact and communications with customers, as well as subcontractor partners. Ensures creation and maintenance of subcontracts.
Responsible for forecasting, tracking/reporting project costs/revenue and adherence to project estimates.
Qualifications
We are seeking professionals with the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent
Entry level to 5 years of project experience
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
(Bid2Win estimating software & Trimble Business Center preferred, but not required)
Trimble Total Station experience preferred, but not required.
Experience in managing teams
Excellent communication skills
Success in client relationships
Self-motivated
Ability to prioritize and manage time
