The Data Protection team is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our Ann Arbor-based team in Barracuda’s Data, Network, and Application security division. You’ll be part of the team building the next generation of our Data Protection products, which serves to protect our customers’ on-premises and virtual file systems, emails, files, and historical revisions against accidental or malicious data loss for purposes of backup, compliance, and disaster recovery. Our internship program is designed to give candidates the opportunity to learn in a hands-on setting.

What you’ll be working on

- Learn about the software development lifecycle, including roadmap and project planning, development and quality assurance testing, and deployment procedures
- Opportunities to work with the C#, .Net Core, Go-Lang, Azure and GitHub tech stacks
- Implement and test improvements and optimizations for the product
- Find and fix bugs in production and development environments
- Thoughtfully give, and gracefully receive, rigorous code reviews
- Interpret metrics to monitor system performance and user behavior
- Document and communicate research and results
What you bring to the role
- Studying toward a degree in a technology field, or equivalent work experience
- Eagerness to set goals and be part of a team
- Curiosity and drive to learn and investigate unfamiliar systems
- Written and verbal technical communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Enthusiasm and willingness to communicate via videoconferencing and text-based chat (especially during COVID-19)
