What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Support Specialist position at Barre Unified Union School District?
Barre Town Middle School seeks a student support specialist to assist teachers (and other school staff) in providing classroom and behavioral supports for students who struggle with social, emotional, and challenging behaviors. Our student support specialist will work out of our Student Support Center which supports our whole PK-8th grade student population. This person will become an integral part of our student support team at the elementary level, as well as assist in the collection of student data. Responsibilities include: Conducting student observations and/or formal FBAs.
Developing, implementing, and supporting Behavior Intervention Plans for students.Reviewing student behavior progress and data.Supporting teachers and staff in settings where students are presenting challenging behaviors.Communicating with teachers and staff around changes in behavior plans or interventions for individual students.Collaborating with staff to support students' behavioral challenges and address issues as they come up to best support the students in the program. Communicating with parents and families about their childs individual behavior plan at school and how to be consistent with that in the home (to provide support for them at home as well).We would be willing to train the successful applicant, if needed.
