Description

WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE

This is a non-supervisory position. The Warehouse Associate is accountable for the safety, quality, and efficiency of their work. The Warehouse Associate reports directly to the Inventory Manager.

EDUCATION

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: None

 

LICENSING / REGISTRATION / CERTIFICATION

Required: Valid state issued drivers license in good standing

Forklift Certification

Preferred: None

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

 

 

  1. Ability to accept direction and feedback from Inventory Manager and follow through appropriately
  2. Ability to adjust to changes in work tasks or environment
  3. Ability to read, understand and carry out written instructions and present questions when instructions are unclear
  4. Ability to read, understand and carry out verbal instructions and present questions when instructions are unclear
  5. Ability to maintain a positive attitude
  6. Ability to operate in an organized and time efficient manner
  7. Ability to read, write and understand work instructions, drawings, layouts, etc.
  8. Mechanical aptitude, performing routine maintenance and repair on equipment
  9. Ability to speak clearly and convey information to others in an effective manner
  10. Ability to take direction from Inventory Manager or take initiative if exact direction has not been assigned
  11. Ability to work extended hours, days, and weekends when necessary
  12. Reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills

 

 

 

 

PHYSICAL

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

BODY POSITIONS: Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while performing job functions.

BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of their hands to fingers, handle equipment and tools. The ability to bend the body, crouch, kneel and crawl to reach for objects is required.

BODY SENSES: The employee must have command of the following senses: sight, hearing, and touch. Specific abilities include: vision must be able to discern colors, as well as depth perception.

STRENGTH: The employee must have the ability to lift 50 pounds with regularity.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires the employee to work indoors in a smoke-free non-climate controlled environment, as well as outside in conditions that may be hot to cold and rainy at times. Travel to the warehouse will be in all types of weather conditions including rain, snow and icy conditions.

 

 

 

AUTHORITY

The Warehouse Associate is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities assigned approved or delegated by the Inventory Manager. Such authority may include:

Report any abuse of the Company's policies and procedures to Supervisor or other members of Management.

Authority to enforce the Company's Safety Policies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary functional duties and responsibilities of the Warehouse Associate include but not limited to:

  1. Arrive at Warehouse and be prepared to work at the beginning of the shift
  2. Recommend measures to improve efficiency, product quality, and safety
  3. Maintain yard, shop and warehouses in a neat and orderly fashion
  4. Courteously and professionally greet customers and fulfill pick lists
  5. Notify Inventory Manager of any quality or safety related concerns
  6. Keep Inventory Manager informed on all ongoing activities
  7. Load and Unload trailers for Company purposes and for its Customers
  8. Act in a manner that represents the professional manner reflecting the companys values and principles
  9. Perform duties in an independent manner with little to no supervision
  10. Maintain a cooperative working relationship with other employees
  11. Constantly look for and suggest ways to perform duties and responsibilities more effectively, what we call Act Like an Owner.
  12. Perform duties in a manner that is compliant with all applicable regulatory bodies, i.e. Texas DOT, OSHA, etc.
  13. Perform other duties and tasks as may be assigned by the Inventory Manager.
