Bartlett Regional Hospital is looking for Lab Assistant I/II to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY - Laboratory Assistant I:
Under close supervision, incumbents learn to and perform routine specimen collection and proper collection of various laboratory specimens, confidential document tracking and reconciliation, data entry, and providing organizational and logistical support to the Clinical Laboratory Scientists and department. All work is reviewed with the goal of achieving certification within one year.
JOB SUMMARY - Laboratory Assistant II:
Under general guidance, responsible for performing skilled phlebotomy on all patients. Collects various laboratory specimens, performs lab test research and pre-analytical specimen processing, performs test research and follows up on test results, confidential document tracking and reconciliation, data entry, and provides organizational and logistical support to the Clinical Laboratory Scientists and department. May assist with creating or updating procedures and policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Note: Completion of a phlebotomy training program with work experience in a similar laboratory or post-high school coursework in biological, chemical or related science is preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Lab Assistant I: Must obtain Phlebotomy (ASCP or other recognized agency); Medical Assistant (by an accredited agency); or EMT (by an accredited agency) Certification within one (1) year of appointment.
- Lab Assistant II: Valid Phlebotomy (ASCP or other recognized agency); Medical Assistant (by an accredited agency); or EMT (by an accredited agency) at time of appointment.
- Experience:
- Lab Assistant I: No previous experience required
- Lab Assistant II: One (1) year of experience as a Lab Assistant I at Bartlett Regional Hospital.
- Substitution: Two (2) years of experience in a medical office/facility performing specimen retrieval, processing, and/or analysis.
