Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee gains entry level pharmacy technician education, exposure and training in Bartlett Hospital Pharmacy specific procedures, policies, and processes. Additional duties include providing pharmacy support services such as assuring proper storage, distribution, packaging and labeling of drugs, and record keeping.
Career Ladder:
This level is part of a Career Ladder. Incumbents must advance from Pharmacy Technician Trainee to Pharmacy Technician 1 upon receipt of Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) credentials and completion of entry level competencies within 6 months. Satisfactory work performance and PTCB certification are required prior to moving up. Advancement to the Pharmacy Technician 1 is a condition of continued employment.
Minimum Qualifications for the Job:
- Education: High School Diploma or the equivalent.
License(s): Valid State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician License.
Certification(s): Must obtain Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) within the probationary period.
Internal Hires: Pay rate will be determined based on applicable personnel rule or union contract terms.
External Hires: This position starts at $17.88 per hour. Step placement and rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.
