RPG Developer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The RPG Developer is a subject matter expert in at least one system or application. Ability to answer questions that come from business partners.

Primary responsibility to be development/programming. Provides analysis, design and development and support UAT. Create flow charts for technical and process analysis so that the project team can understand the data flow.

Technically lead and mentor other developers to produce error-free development. Effectively communicate with business users, and perform process improvements, configuration changes, day to day user activities.

As part of production support, analyze issues with a quick and long-term solution. Utilizes team work on quick solutions while still validating the long-term solution.

Serves as a contributor and member to project teams in the applications area. Supports the business community in monitoring and enhancing the performance of business applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Design & Analysis.  Will create flow charts for technical analysis so that the project team can understand the data flow. Participates in formal and informal code review and assists team members and works with the QA team to facilitate quality assurance efforts. Performs analysis and design for programs and learns and adapts to new applications, languages, and techniques. 
• Development/Programming. Focused on supporting the development, maintenance, and support activities in keeping applications systems stable and functional in addition to increasing functionality for the user community. Serves as a contributor and member to project teams in the applications area. Completes administration tasks, such as status reporting and documentation
• Lead Others. Technically lead and mentor other developers to produce error-free development.
• Provide Proactive Solutions.  Utilizes team work on quick solutions while still validating the long-term solution.
• Business Process Discussions. Supports the business community in monitoring and enhancing the performance of business.
• Applications, including applications that are key components to the success of our business.
• Participate in the 24/7 on call rotation.
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree

• Certificate(s) or License(s): A certificate of training or expert in one of the systems supported is preferred

• Years of experience: 8

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

Required:

• RPG ILE/Free Form development experience
• iSeries/AS400 experience (DBU, Hawkeye, RDi, SEU)
• DB2/i database experience
• Embedded SQL/SQL programming experience
• Retail industry knowledge
• Experience of any Retail/Merchandising product (eg. Blue Yonder/JDA MMS preferred)
• Knowledge of at least two merchandising modules out of Master data management, purchase order, receiving, demand, replenishment, forecast, pricing, costing
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team leadership skills

Preferred:

• MQ experience
• Experience working with offshore team
• GoAnywhere FTP experience
• RPG XML programming experience
• Mentoring skills

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimal

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Regular computer work, and sitting

• Occasional walking, and standing

• Seldom to never lifting up to 50lbs

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

• Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
