What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional/Emotional Support Specialist position at Battenkill Community Services, Inc.?
The Direct Care/Emotional Support Specialist at Battenkill Community Services is responsible for meeting the psycho-social needs of all individuals supported in our Group Day and Community Habilitation Programs. The responsibilities of this position will be to attend team meetings, actively participate and create LifePlan measurable goals and objectives, provide assessments, create Functional Behavioral Assessment per the request of team, offer individual emotional support as needed, available to all staff and individuals, individual counseling, group counseling, and crisis intervention services. The position will offer Direct Care services as needed and is also responsible for providing training and guidance to all Battenkill staff working with these individuals in these areas. A Master’s degree and/or working towards a Master’s degree in a human service field (i.e. psychology, sociology, social work, special education, rehabilitation counseling, etc.) is required. We prefer at least one year of experience in the field and at least one year experience working with the developmentally disabled. This is a part time position, with the potential for full time.
