A Mobile Equipment Mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs heavy machinery and vehicles used in industries like construction, mining, and agriculture. They diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. This role involves working with various systems like engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose malfunctions: Identify issues with heavy machinery using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Repair and replace parts: Disassemble, repair, or replace defective or worn components like bearings, pistons, and gears.
- Perform maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks like lubrication, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
- Overhaul and test: Overhaul major systems such as engines and transmissions, and test equipment for proper functionality.
- Maintain records: Keep detailed logs of equipment condition, work performed, and parts used.
- Follow safety procedures: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines when working with heavy equipment.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge: Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
