POSITION SUMMARY:
The QA Lead is responsible to provide, to the operating teams, the independent assurance that all Food Safety and Quality requirements of our customers are met. Given the support nature of this role, independent from the operating teams that have the direct responsibility for producing Safe, Quality product, the QA lead must inspire others through effective collaboration, motivation and leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Ensure all QA Technician employees are in assigned area and working in a safe environment.
- Conduct initial and ongoing training for QA and QC technicians to assure these employees are performing duties as required.
- Ensure all regulatory and customer requirements are being met by auditing and reviewing production records.
- Releasing product for further regulatory inspection (offers to USDA/ AVI) or for shipment to customer, only when all requirements have been verified as specified in approved QSP, procedures & work instructions.
- Ensuring all non-conforming products are held and not offered or shipped, until appropriate corrective action has been taken and fully documented by responsible parties.
- Facilitate inspection and equipment responsibilities.
- Schedule and coordinate QA staff ensuring all testing is conducted
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a Wornick Quality role (QC, QA, Record Review).
- Computer literate and working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of Manufacturing Operations (as applicable to specific Operating Area) to include: Batching, In Process, End Item. Assembly Lab, Retort, Packaging, IPS, MRE Assembly, Sanitation, SPC.
- Successful completion of training and/ or certification in the following: HACCP, Better Process Control School, Leadership, and Auditing.
- In addition, a training & qualification plan will be developed to ensure all skills and tools necessary to be successful in the role are obtained. These will include both Business and QA Competencies.
- Fluent in FLEX
