What are the responsibilities and job description for the Flagger position at Bay Ltd.?
JOB SUMMARY
The flagger is responsible for the control of traffic. They are along roads and highways who help traffic keep flowing through a construction zone, despite a shutdown of lanes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Discuss traffic routing plans, type, and location of control points with supervisor
- Distribute traffic control signs and markers along site in designated pattern
- Directs movement of traffic through site, using sign, hand, and flag signals
- Warn construction workers when approaching vehicle fails to heed signals to prevent accident and injury to workers
- Inform drivers of detour routes through constructions sites
- Record license number of traffic control violators for police
- Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions/ use equipment and materials properly
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
- Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year experience in highway, bridge, sewer, and road construction

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
- Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities

- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
- Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
