POSITION SUMMARY
The Tribal Administration Intern position is designed for college students and young adults seeking to gain hands-on experience in tribal governance and administrative operations. Under the supervision of the Tribal Manager and direction of the President, the intern will assist with a variety of office tasks and special projects that support the daily operations of Tribal Administration. This internship provides an opportunity to develop professional skills such as initiative, discretion, independent judgment, confidentiality, attention to detail, and deadline management in a real-world governmental setting.
This internship is for Summer 2025 (June-August)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform general office tasks in support of Tribal Administration operations.
- Assist with drafting administrative documents, filing, scanning, copying, and organizing records.
- Accurately record and transcribe meeting minutes in a timely manner.
- Scan and organize documents using an electronic filing system.
- Drafting emails, letters, and memos, and answering phone calls.
- Attend all meetings of the Executive Council, including but not limited to meetings of the Chippewa Ottawa Resource Authority, Bay Mills Gaming Authority, or Bay Mills Business Holdings.
- Communicate professionally with internal departments and external agencies.
- Carry out other tasks as assigned that are relevant to the intern's development and office needs.
- Complete two to three major research projects for the Legal Department over the course of the summer.
- Attend all required trainings as designated by Human Resources or supervising departments.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
