Summary:
The Lab Support Staff Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the daily operations, Prioritizes and delegates the technical and administrative functions of the assigned section. Develop staffing plan, monitors time and attendance and performs payroll functions, Act as a preceptor for new hires and facilitate department in-services, Monitors and maintains adequate supply levels, Participates in regulatory surveys, coordinates the collecting, receiving and processing of inpatient and outpatient specimens for testing, Communications with nursing regarding patient specimens, referring specimens to outside laboratories, interaction with physicians, clients and staff regarding referral lab tests, performance of phlebotomy procedures and performs other duties as assigned. Required Certification includes Phlebotomy within 1 year of hire (ASCP, ASPT or AMT) or BayCare Client Service classes (3 approved CBTs and 1 approved class) within 1 year of hire. BayCare Client Services classes in lieu of Phlebotomy certification is only acceptable for Positions with no possibility or expectation of performing phlebotomy. Performs other duties as assigned.
