SUMMARY:
Under supervision of the Manager, provide supervision of lab personnel ensuring delivery of efficient and accurate testing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science
- ASCP certification is preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous clinical laboratory experience of 2-4 years.
- Strong technical expertise, knowledge, and skills in troubleshooting and problem solving.
- LC/MS/MS and GC/MS/MS experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Multitasking and time management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- This position involves standing for long periods of time, walking, and lifting/moving items weighing 10-50lbs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform multiple Biochemical Genetics testing such as Tay-Sachs, Enzyme, Amino Acid Analysis, LC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS and data entry daily.
- Sample processing and determining acceptability for downstream application.
- Assist in training of Laboratory Staff.
- Monitor pending lists to ensure timely reporting.
- Adhere to company QC/QA policies and maintain documentation of control ranges, instrument calibrations and maintenance, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Ensures laboratory staff is keeping up with above documentation.
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot complex instrumentation.
- Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents and controls.
- Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and reagents required for testing and communicate with the supervisor to ensure timely ordering and delivery of supplies.
- Maintain good communication with team and supervisor on any issues pertaining to the workflow.
- Maintain compliance with CAP, NY, and CLIA regulations.
- In absence of manager, provide direct supervision of laboratory staff.
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
