What are the responsibilities and job description for the Universal Banker position at BCB COMMUNITY BANK?
SUMMARY:
The position of Universal Banker I is responsible for processing all new account transactions; assisting customers in their selection of various accounts and financial services; cross-selling the Bank’s products and services; opening, maintaining and closing of all account types; performing branch clerical duties. The position of Universal Banker I also is required to be fully knowledgeable and skilled in the areas of teller. They will accept retail and commercial checking and savings deposits; process loan payments; cash checks and savings withdrawals; promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.
Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assists consumer and business customers in their selection of various accounts, products and financial services available from the Bank; ensures cross-sell opportunities are presented by applying professional sales techniques.
2. Receives retail and commercial checking and savings deposits by determining that all necessary documents are in proper form, and issuing receipts.
3. Cashes checks, savings withdrawals and makes cash advances; confirms all necessary documents are properly authorized, are in proper form and are within authorized limits; makes decisions when questionable items are present for cashing.
4. Interviews customers to obtain information; establishes proper identification of new customers; determines need and extent of reference investigation.
5. Balances cash drawer daily and verifies cash being returned to the vault.
6. Discusses, prepares and processes documents related to the Bank’s ELECTRONIC BANKING service.
7. Discusses and accepts merchant card applications for submission to the BANKCARD SERVICES DEPARTMENT.
8. Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; assigns account numbers; completes forms requiring customer signature(s); checks credit history; accepts initial deposits; prepares all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts certificates of deposit, and other products for processing.
9. Assists customers in the closing of accounts and performs closing transaction.
10. Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports the Bank’s goals and values; benefits the bank through outside activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma, general education degree (GED) or higher; or 1 year or more of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a financial institution operations, sales or customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
