Job Description

Position: Fiber Optic Cable Splicer

Location: Southwest Virginia / Tennessee (Travel Required)

Job Type: Full-Time

Responsibilities

• Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables
• Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cables (aerial, underground, indoor)
• Use OTDR, power meters, and other tools for testing/troubleshooting
• Maintain accurate documentation (splice diagrams, test results)
• Ensure compliance with safety standards
• Maintain splicing equipment
• FiCollaborate with project teams
• Respond to network outages/emergencies
• Prepare and organize job sites

Qualifications

• 2–3 years experience in fiber splicing or telecom
• Skilled in fusion/mechanical splicing, OTDR, power meters
• Preferred: FOA or CFOT certification
• High school diploma required; tech degree preferred
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights, in all weather
• Valid driver’s license; CDL may be required
• Strong problem-solving and team skills
• Knowledge of OSHA/telecom safety protocols

Working Conditions

• Outdoor/indoor environments
• 3 weeks on / 1 week off schedule — paid during off week
• Overnight travel required
• Per diem paid for all out-of-town travel
• On-call availability may be necessary

Pay: From $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
