Duties Include:
- Receives all new patient referrals, builds charts, circulates new patient form, and works closely with front office supervisor to monitor status of referral.
- Faxes thank you letter to referring provider.
- Calls patients when referral received, obtain insurance information and any missing basic patient information to complete chart.
- Provides initial insurance information to preauthorization team.
- Obtains a release of information from patient when needed.
- Contacts referring provider and other pertinent facilities for additional records required by Beacon before the patient is seen.
- Sends new patient information packets including map, ROI’s, etc. when needed
- Maintains new patient spreadsheet daily and monthly referral summaries.
- Maintains unscheduled new patient appointments to ensure patients are scheduled within the mandatory timeframe.
- Operates in multiple medical software programs including Microsoft office.
- Responsible for documenting and maintaining processes for new patient coordination.
- Functions as back-up front office, checking in patients and participating in phone triage throughout the day.
- Creates and supplies clinic with new patient packets.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in a medical office is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a front office position or other administrative duties a must.
- Compassionate and caring bedside manner.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work extremely well in a group setting.
