What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Inspector position at Beaufort County School District?
- Conduct regular inspections of school district facilities, including buildings, grounds, and mechanical systems, to assess the quality of maintenance, custodial, and groundskeeping services.
- Meet with school principals, administrators, and staff to review and evaluate facility concerns.
- Evaluate contractor performance to ensure compliance with service agreements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Document and report deficiencies, recommending corrective actions, and following up on resolution.
- Assist the Facilities Support Manager in reviewing contracts, developing performance benchmarks, and making recommendations for contractor improvement.
- Respond to facility-related complaints and coordinating corrective actions with the appropriate contractor or district personnel.
- Ensure compliance with district policies, state and federal regulations, and industry best practices for facility maintenance and safety.
- Provide reports and updates to the Facilities Support Manager on contractor performance and overall facility conditions.
- Coordinating with other departments (such as security, transportation, and school administration) as needed to address facility concerns.
- Requires a Masters in Education administration, personnel administration or related field, supplemented by three to five years of professional human resources administration experience, preferably in an education environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
- Must be eligible or possess a current South Carolina Administrative certification with the State Department of Education.
- Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience at the district level.

- Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision.
- Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.

- Work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds.

- Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.
