    POSITION PURPOSE: The Facilities Inspector provides oversight of custodial, maintenance, and grounds contractors, ensuring that all work meets contractual and district standards. This role ensures accountability, efficiency, and responsiveness by conducting regular inspections, addressing facility concerns with school staff, and coordinating with contractors to resolve issues. The Facilities Inspector addresses maintenance needs to prevent costly repairs, enhance learning and working environments, and support the Facilities Support Manager in managing contractor performance. The Facilities Inspector works closely with the BCSD Facilities Support Manager to assess the performance of custodial contractors, maintenance contractors, grounds contractors and similar service providers.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Conduct regular inspections of school district facilities, including buildings, grounds, and mechanical systems, to assess the quality of maintenance, custodial, and groundskeeping services.
    • Meet with school principals, administrators, and staff to review and evaluate facility concerns.
    • Evaluate contractor performance to ensure compliance with service agreements, quality standards, and safety regulations.
    • Document and report deficiencies, recommending corrective actions, and following up on resolution.
    • Assist the Facilities Support Manager in reviewing contracts, developing performance benchmarks, and making recommendations for contractor improvement.
    • Respond to facility-related complaints and coordinating corrective actions with the appropriate contractor or district personnel.
    • Ensure compliance with district policies, state and federal regulations, and industry best practices for facility maintenance and safety.
    • Provide reports and updates to the Facilities Support Manager on contractor performance and overall facility conditions.
    • Coordinating with other departments (such as security, transportation, and school administration) as needed to address facility concerns.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Requires a Masters in Education administration, personnel administration or related field, supplemented by three to five years of professional human resources administration experience, preferably in an education environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
    • Must be eligible or possess a current South Carolina Administrative certification with the State Department of Education.
    EXPERIENCE:
    • Minimum of 5 years of administrative experience at the district level.
