What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Support Specialist position at Beaufort-Jasper EOC?

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, this employee will provide case management services, administrative support and aid in resolving individual and community problems that have been identified through case management techniques. Will provide comprehensive (direct) and/or indirect services through referrals that may include, intake, scheduling appointments, assessments, employment, employment related setbacks, education and training, resume writing, soft skills training, employability skills training, health, affordable housing, housing repairs, crises intervention, counseling, utility assistance, nutrition and emergency assistance (i.e., rent/mortgage, food, energy, prescription medication, medical, employment, unemployment, disaster relief, fire, etc.); but may not be limited to these specifically. This individual will seek guidance from the County Coordinator concerning programmatic issues and day to day program operations.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provide intake assistance to individuals following policies, procedures, industry standard procedures, administrative guides and oral and written instructions;

· Facilitate individual and/or group counseling; provide individual case management services/ activities, organize community residents/meetings for the proper utilization of services and/or programs that are designed to help customer eliminate daily problems encountered;

· Assist with engaging community facilities that will be used for programmatic activities;

· Conduct customer interviews, assist with individual and community surveys/needs assessment and process associated with data analysis and/or collection, make appropriate referrals for individuals to receive services from other agencies, programs, organizations, etc.; type a wide variety of correspondences, letters, budgets, proposals, reports, etc.

· Provides a range of services that can include collection, review and approval of documents, data entry, program and eligibility consideration and review, skills assessment, resume building, job development, interview coaching, networking with area employers, transportation to interviews, employment orientation, assistance with skills recertification, employment follow up, retention.

· Must show the ability to review documents (i.e., social security cards, birth certificate, marriage license, income documents and wage information, green cards, etc.).

· Must maintain files, documents, program logs, purchase orders, vouchers, sign-in sheets, notes, accurate and current records of participants served, services received, and all other pertinent information that is required by the agency and/or funding source.

· May serve as a receptionist responding to visitors and telephone inquiries when needed.

· Must show the ability to review documents and perform duties that require maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

· Must have to ability to attend all mandatory agency training/meetings and other trainings as required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
