Job Title:                     Triage Analyst  

Division:                      Group Claims                                         

Reports To:                 Jennifer Stancil in Group Claims 

Key Relationships:     Claims staff, underwriters, insureds, brokers and service providers, UCO

Job Summary:            To help achieve the Beazley vision of being the highest performing specialist insurer the Triage Analyst will focus on ensuring that newly tendered notifications and Claims are assigned to the appropriate resource for handling. From a technical perspective, this will be achieved through the substantive review, assessment, and assignment of new claims to ensure they are handled by the appropriate resource and that accurate data is timely entered. 

Location:                     Our preference would be for this role to be based in Chicago, Atlanta or Philadelphia

The Role:

Reporting to and working closely with various Focus Group Leaders, this role will assess, collaborate, empower, and  challenge by taking responsibility for substantive review and assignment of claims.  The individual in this role will use their previous experience in handling professional lines claims to substantively review new claims and ensure they are assigned to the appropriate resource based on severity and other factors.


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Triage and Assignment of Claim Notifications  

  • Timely review newly tendered claim notifications.
  • Contact insured or broker for missing information necessary for assignment.
  • Enter initial known data into ClaimCenter per product team specification.
  • Draft initial note summarizing claim and relevant coverage.
  • Flag potential coverage issues or high-exposure or problematic claims to claims handler and Focus Group Leader as appropriate.
  • Assign to individual or external partner based on product-specified criteria, with an emphasis on severity and complexity.
  • Accommodate product-specific requests with regard to initial file receipt, acknowledgement, data entry, communication with internal and external partners.
  • Identify and report potential claim trends to Focus Group Leader.
  • Understand and implement Beazley’s Conduct Risk Policy.
  • Ensure compliance with the regulations and Beazley’s claims controls standards and protocols.
  • Propose strategies for improved claim assignment processes.
  • Promote the Beazley brand of excellence and professionalism in client service.

 

Conflicts of Interest

  • Adhere to Beazley’s Conflicts of Interest policy, alert the appropriate person to any potential conflicts of interest, and take steps to resolve them promptly.
  • Immediately advise your Head of or Group Head of Claims if any Beazley employee seeks to exert undue influence on you or any other team member to act improperly in the management, reserving, or settlement of any claim.

Person Specifications

Personal Specification:

We’re looking for an individual with legal training or past claims experience who is able to translate and apply this knowledge back to Beazley’s business. Previous experience of 3-5 years of professional liability claims handling, with a track record of reviewing claims, establishing coverage, and analysing liability and exposure.

Great interpersonal and communication skills are important, as is the ability to build relationships across varying levels of seniority and the ability to influence accordingly.

 

From a business perspective, the person will need to enjoy working in the insurance industry with a genuine passion for claims and an ability to be analytical, detail-orientated, and decisive.

Salary for this role will be tailored to the successful individual’s location and experience. The expected compensation range for this position is $90k – 105k per year plus discretionary annual bonus.
