Electrical Systems Design Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Design Specialist to join our team in Philadelphia. As an Electrical Systems Design Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for commercial and institutional building projects.

Your primary focus will be on designing power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications plans including all associated circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications. You will also perform system design calculations, load calculations, arc flash & fault current, lighting, and any other calculations required to support electrical design.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will prepare electrical construction documents including drawings, specifications, and reports for buildings. You will review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all building systems and ensure that the design is consistent with the overall vision and design schedules are maintained.

You will work closely with clients and other design team members to select and specify appropriate equipment for use in building systems. You will incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings and report writing and specification preparation.

A key aspect of this role is coordinating work with engineers of other disciplines and architects. You must have strong analytical and quantitative skills and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in designing electrical systems for commercial/institutional building projects.

Key Skills

• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Previous electrical design experience with an AE and/or MEP engineering consulting firm.
• Strong fundamental understanding of the National Electric Code, and the International Building Codes.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.

Salary : $98,765 - $123,456
