We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing to lead and manage our nursing department.
Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing (DON) will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the nursing department, ensuring high standards of patient care, managing a team of nurses, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Director will work closely with hospital leadership to improve patient outcomes, enhance the quality of care, and lead nursing initiatives that promote the facility's mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
Lead, mentor, and supervise the nursing team, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Develop and implement strategies to ensure high-quality patient care.
Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation for optimal patient outcomes.
Promote staff development and ensure continuing education opportunities.
- Clinical Excellence & Quality Improvement:
Ensure adherence to evidence-based practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Oversee the implementation of nursing protocols and ensure quality improvement initiatives are continuously assessed.
Monitor and evaluate patient care outcomes, providing feedback to staff and ensuring continuous improvement.
- Financial & Operational Management:
Manage the department's budget, ensuring the efficient use of resources.
Work with leadership to develop and track departmental financial goals.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, infection control policies, and other healthcare standards.
- Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation:
Ensure the nursing department complies with all state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Prepare for and participate in regulatory surveys and inspections.
Stay up-to-date on nursing best practices, healthcare trends, and regulatory changes.
- Collaboration & Communication:
Act as a liaison between the nursing staff and hospital administration.
Collaborate with other departments and healthcare teams to ensure coordinated care delivery.
Provide regular updates to executive leadership on nursing department performance, challenges, and successes.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing or Healthcare Administration (MSN or MHA) preferred.
Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State].
Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Previous experience in hospital or healthcare administration is preferred.

In-depth knowledge of nursing best practices, clinical protocols, and healthcare regulations.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
