What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Services Coordinator position at Behavioral Health Associates?
Valley Ridge Academy under Behavioral Health Associates is an approved private academic provider for General Education and Special Education students in grades K-6. We provide social and emotional needs along with academic supports for all students. Our goal is to help the students achieve success that will help them return to their home district: Restoring, Educating, and Empowering the Future.
Valley Ridge Academy also provides group counseling, scheduled as a class three times per week and restorative practices daily. Our classrooms are a small, structured, and supportive setting. All classrooms have a teacher and an Instructional Assistant.
We currently an opening for a Student Services Coordinator (SSC)! This position is guaranteed to be rewarding!
POSITION GOAL
The SSC is responsible for scheduling and facilitating IEP meetings, composing IEP’s, and ensuring that all aspects of the IEP are being adhered to within each classroom environment. Oversight of academic strategies, interventions, and progress will be conducted by the SSC as the school schedule dictates. The Student Service Coordinator must be flexible and willing to fill in for absentee staff and perform a variety of administrative tasks, as well as therapeutic interventions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Arrives at assigned site according to the established work schedule.
- Communicates and works cooperatively with IA’s, students, parents, district personnel and any agency members to meet client needs.
- Provides director with data and continuous feedback concerning client progress, client behaviors, and incidents.
- Responds positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
- Understands and maintains confidentiality in all matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
- Creates and update IEP’s/FBAs for Special Education students and schedule their yearly meetings with parents, districts, and outside agencies.
- Maintain and update student folders/SharePoint during the school year.
- Assist teachers with curriculum planning and instruction based on goals in each student’s IEP/SDI section. Assure all students are taught on the level and grade outlined in their IEP.
- Follows the established daily classroom and client’s schedules.
- Assists in non-violent crisis intervention and provides appropriate CPI Certified Restraint when necessary.
- Strive to understand clients’ feelings and behaviors and responds appropriately.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of an environment which is non-threatening, safe, and nurturing and where the students feel respected, accepted, and welcomed.
- Assist with arrival, dismissal, and cafeteria duties.
- Always conduct yourself as a role model.
- Establish and follow our behavior management system as outlined in the description of the TALID system by enforcing the TALID system daily.
- Oversee the IA’s assigned to any classroom
- Oversee all diagnostic testing and track results for Aimsweb and Exact Path and communicate results to Director.
- Oversee PSSA testing.
- Student, parental and school district contact as needed for behavioral, educational or attendance reasons.
- Assist and guide establishment of baseline data at the beginning of the school year and/or new students entering the program.
- Keeps accurate records on students’ progress in academic and behavioral areas, including writing Incident Reports when needed.
- Monthly Fire Drills/document.
- Creating Memo’s for students/field trips/fun day/etc.
- Finding and scheduling field trips.
- Filling in as needed in each classroom.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A.S/B.S degree in special education/education/psychology from an accredited institution or related field teaching.
- Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state.
- Knowledge of special education.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
