Position Summary

The Director of Impact is a senior leadership role responsible for translating strategy into action across Behind Every Door’s programs and pathways. This role serves as the operational engine for program execution—ensuring that initiatives are implemented with excellence, aligned to strategy, measured for impact, and responsive to community needs.

The Director of Impact is both a strategic thinker and hands-on leader equally comfortable building systems, managing data, and stepping directly into programs when needed. This role requires strong administrative discipline, people leadership, and the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, community-centered environment.

While the Vice President of Programs sets vision and enterprise strategy, the Director of Impact ensures that strategy becomes reality—day to day, program by program, person by person.

Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation & Execution

  • Lead the day-to-day execution of programs across youth, adult, and family pathways, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and community priorities.
  • Translate program vision, frameworks, and goals into actionable plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Serve as a hands-on leader who can step into programs, troubleshoot challenges, and support staff during high-need or high-growth periods.
  • Ensure program fidelity, consistency, and quality across offerings.

Impact Measurement & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee program data collection, tracking, and reporting to measure outcomes, participation, and impact.
  • Partner with program leaders to use data for continuous improvement, decision-making, and storytelling.
  • Support the development and execution of logic models, outcomes frameworks, and evaluation tools.
  • Prepare impact summaries and reports for internal leadership, funders, and partners.

People Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Supervise and support program managers and leads, providing coaching, accountability, and professional development.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, excellence, collaboration, and adaptability among program teams.
  • Support onboarding, training, and performance management for program staff.
  • Model servant leadership and maintain a visible presence on campus.

Administration & Systems Management

  • Build and maintain strong administrative systems for scheduling, staffing, documentation, compliance, and communication.
  • Ensure programs operate efficiently within approved budgets and resource plans, in partnership with Finance and Operations.
  • Support grant implementation by ensuring program deliverables, timelines, and reporting requirements are met.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Development, Operations, Marketing & Communications, and external partners.

Strategic Partnership & Community Engagement

  • Maintain strong relationships with community partners, schools, families, and stakeholders connected to program delivery.
  • Represent Behind Every Door in meetings, site visits, and collaborative initiatives as needed.
  • Ensure community voice and feedback inform program execution and refinement.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal Director of Impact is a strategic executor—someone who sees the big picture but thrives in the details.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (education, nonprofit management, public administration, or related field).
  • 5 - 7 years of progressive experience in program leadership, nonprofit operations, or community-based organizations.
  • Demonstrated success implementing programs at scale and managing complex, multi-faceted initiatives.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Experience using data and evaluation to improve programs and demonstrate impact.

Pay: $70,000-$80,000 per year
