What are the responsibilities and job description for the Classroom Assistant, BES - 6 hrs/day position at Belmont Elementary School?
Provide assistance to teaching staff in planning and outlining class work and providing for special needs of students. Belmont Elementary School is a Title-I School, therefore a minimum of an Associates Degree is required. This position is for 6 hours per day and qualifies for district sponsored benefits including health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance as well as paid personal, sick and 4 holidays. Work year is 180 school days and 2 additional days as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities include:
1. Assistant classroom teacher in outlining classroom activities and preparing materials.
2. Provide education input regarding student progress as necessary.
3. Work with students in the instructional setting, in groups, and on individual basis.
4. Supervise students at lunch, recess, etc and other duties as determined necessary by administration.
5. Operate office machines and assist teacher with classroom clerical duties.
Qualification & Recommended Work Traits:
1. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions and to provide proper assistance to the supervisor assigned.
2. An understanding of the social, emotional and intellectual characteristics of children.
3. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.
