The Role:
As theBoiler Attendant, you will be responsible for performing duties related to heating, plant boiler, campus steam distribution systems, DDC controls, and energy efficiency and is involved in the operation, maintenance, and repair of all facilities and equipment. The attendant must also ensure permits are up to date on equipment, test water quality, schedule and document fuel deliveries, clean and tune all boilers, operate assigned vehicles and machinery as required and follow established safety guidelines. This position works both indoors and outside, within the boiler plant and in plumbing facilities/boiler areas throughout campus buildings, often confined spaces with limited physical access. This position requires routine medium to heavy physical exertion involving lifting, standing, bending, reaching, stopping, walking, pushing, pulling and climbing stairs, step ladders and extension ladders to coordinate work. It requires the ability to lift and carry at least 100 pounds and the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force frequently.
Qualifications:
- High school or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience
- Current/valid Silver or Gold burner certificate (Bronze at a minimum) and driver’s license
- VT Type S plumbing license preferred or at least some experience with the maintenance and installation of furnaces and boilers.
