What You’ll Do
- Perform fire alarm system repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and replace defective parts
- Perform programming on fire alarm systems
- Use device manuals to repair non-functioning fire alarms and restore fire alarms to original functionality
- Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, positioning and terminating cables, wires, or strappings
- Repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications
- Ensure compliance to fire and electrical codes
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required
- Travel to multiple job sites each day
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders multiples times a day
What You’ll Bring (requirements)
- 3 plus years of experience in the Fire Alarm industry (construction and/ or service) OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
- NICET level II or higher Fire Alarm Systems Certification.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and writing)
- Results Oriented (job/ service driven)
- Able to lift, carry, and move tools and equipment weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions – climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills/ Critical thinking abilities
- Understands and implements sound customer service practices
- Military background a HUGE plus
- Employee will be required to possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
- Candidates must be able to respond to calls outside of normal business hours.
Beneficial qualifications
- Any specialty fire alarm systems experience commercial / Military base exp.
- Possession of NICET, state issued, or otherwise recognized certification (apprenticeship/ journeyman program)
- Programming experience
- Experience in construction environments (Fire Alarm)
- Experience in service environments (Fire Alarm)
- Field experience with wiring, troubleshooting, and NFPA Code requirements (to include California specific amendments)
- Factory Training and Certifications
- Professional membership in the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA).
