What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Inspector position at Bergmann?
We’re looking for Construction Inspectors to join #TeamBergmann in Michigan!
What You’ll Be Doing: Construction inspection on various MDOT and/or local agency projects.
Who We’re Looking For: Candidates will have 0-5 years of related experience including highway construction (earthwork, concrete and HMA pavement), bridge construction and maintenance of traffic inspection. All candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
What You’ll Need to be Successful:
- High School diploma is required; Associates degree in civil technology or related field is desired
- Knowledge of MDOT specifications is a plus
- Able to work in a team environment and have good communication skills
- Basic computer knowledge/skills
- MDOT Certifications are preferred but not all are necessary
Our Construction Inspectors also:
- Oversee, document, and verify the work and daily activities of road and bridge construction crews to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans
- Monitor and document work zone and traffic control operations
- Complete Inspector Daily Reports (IDRs) for assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment and materials incorporated into the project
- Take measurements, calculate quantities, and perform engineering related computations
- Operate relevant material testing equipment
- Provide technical assistance and help resolve challenges related to the construction operations
- Attend preconstruction meetings and progress meetings
- Help coordinate project start-up activities
- Scoping and final inspection of parking lot resurfacing and reconstruction projects
- Assist with in-service bridge inspections and bridge project scoping.
All other duties as assigned. We won’t ask you to do things way outside your scope, but we are one #TeamBergmann, so “not my job” is not an option!
