Berks Counseling Center is a recovery-oriented behavioral health, physical health, and supportive services organization providing a holistic approach to a culturally and economically diverse population for the purpose of achieving a healthy and productive lifestyle.

In this position, You will be responsible for providing integrated treatment supporting the needs of both behavioral and physical health care to clients admitted to Berks Counseling Center. This would include clinical treatment modalities and supporting documentation.

You will also…

  • Provide screening, assessment, and evaluation of potential clients (if bachelor's degree, under the supervision of master’s level and/or licensed staff).
  • Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling (if bachelor's degree, under the supervision of master’s level and/or licensed staff).
  • Effectively assess client treatment needs and develop a comprehensive individualized integrated treatment plan.
  • Complete clinical documentation that meets compliance standards, medical necessity guidelines, and agency standards as to timeliness and accuracy of documentation.
  • Maintain weekly direct service hours as designated by supervisor.

Requirements

To qualify for the position, you will need…

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related social service field
  • At least three (3) months of direct counseling and substance abuse counseling experience (or relevant internship)
  • A Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB) certification (CRS, CAC, or CADS) or the ability to get it within 1 year of employment.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week within agency hours of operation, which are 8am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-4pm Friday, with Saturday hours, when applicable.

Physical Requirements

  • SEEING: Must be able to see well enough to read reports and use a computer.
  • COMMUNICATING: Must be able to communicate with clients, vendors, and coworkers.
  • MOBILITY: Must have mobility to move about the agency.
  • LIFTING/PULLING/PUSHING: Must be able to lift up to 5 pounds.
  • OTHER: Must be able to write, type, and use technology.

Preferred candidates will …

  • Be Bilingual: English/Spanish
  • Have Knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed approaches preferred.
  • Know the assessment and treatment of behavioral health disorders.
  • Know community services available to low-income, high-risk populations.
  • Have experience in documenting clinical needs clearly, concisely, and in a timely manner.

  • Receipt of results of a satisfactory drug and alcohol screening test.
  • Receipt of the originals of the following background checks: PA State Police Criminal History, PA State Child Abuse, and DPW FBI Criminal History. These clearances must be valid within the 60 months prior to employment. A conviction is not a bar to employment; however, a review will be conducted to make a determination of employment should a conviction be present.
  • Receipt of original documentation and verification of relevant degrees, diplomas, certificates, or licensure.
  • Confirmation that you are not on the OIG Federal Healthcare Program Exclusion from Participation list. Should you appear on this list, Berks Counseling Center is prohibited from employing you.
  • If considered for a position that may require you to operate BCC’s company car or transport clients, so you must provide a 10-Year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and a valid Driver’s License

Counselors with a bachelor's: $41,400-43,400. With a master's: $45,100-47,300

Pay: $41,400.00 - $47,300.00 per year
