Key Accountabilities:
- Accountable for underwriting all business opportunities.
- Communicates and maintains active dialogue with both the Relationship Manager and Client.
- Recommends capital structure and accumulates all data necessary to perform focused analysis. Also, manages approvals for amendments and waivers to credit facilities.
- Reviews financial statements, projection models and all other relevant financial and non- financial data to develop a concise focused analytical foundation for a credit decision.
- Prepares thorough credit underwriting identifying industry concerns, market share trends, financial trends and other pertinent underwriting issues to present to the approving Credit Officer or Loan Committee.
- Ensures underwriting and structuring decisions reflect commitment to strong asset quality.
- Assist the Relationship Manager in obtaining and negotiating necessary documentation, including the Term Sheet, Commitment Letter and assures that the documentation correctly reflects rates, terms and special conditions.
- Prepares analysis and write-ups for amendments, consents and waivers to existing credit documentation.
- Conducts periodic site visits with the Relationship Manager to assess management and business conditions.
- Attends bank meetings when applicable.
- Monitors the financial performance of portfolio companies to include ongoing covenant compliance and annual reviews.
- Ensure risk rating accuracy and compliance with Credit Policy
- Mentors the Credit Analysts and Associates.
- Assumes additional responsibilities and duties as directed by the Regional Credit Officer to ensure that underwriting objectives throughout the bank are met. May manage the distribution and taking of minutes for Executive Loan Committee.
- Assists in department objectives by determining to extend credit to complex commercial relationships. In addition, provides analysis and recommendation to conduct business with specific participation banks and vendors.
- Coordinates with both the Relationship and Portfolio Managers in making recommendations regarding the extension of credit to new and existing commercial clients. In addition, works closely with Relationship and Portfolio Managers in making recommendations on business relationships with commercial clients.
- Exercise loan authority within established limits. Loan authority will be based on experience level and size and scope of assigned credit portfolio and will also vary based on type of credit request.
- Ensures compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations and prescribed policies and procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one’s duties.
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field. MBA preferred.
- At least 5-7 years lending/credit experience.
- Demonstrated high level of credit and financial acumen, interpersonal skills and decision/solution effectiveness.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, involving other lenders, clients and prospects.
