Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial insights. This role requires a strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS compliance, and various accounting software platforms. The Controller will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting organizational growth through effective financial management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS regulations, and governmental reporting requirements.
- Manage balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to maintain accurate financial records.
- Prepare and review financial reports, including income statements, cash flow statements, and budget variance analyses.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Supervise the preparation of regulatory filings and ensure adherence to all statutory deadlines.
- Oversee cash management activities including forecasting, liquidity analysis, and banking relationships.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation for audit procedures.
- Utilize accounting software such as Sage or other financial management tools to streamline processes.
- Support strategic planning by providing financial analysis and insights for decision-making.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, IFRS, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and technical accounting concepts.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial report writing, account reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software such as Sage or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of cash management practices and financial analysis techniques.
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable functions and payroll processing is preferred.
