Responsibilities:
The Supervisor directs all the day-to-day activities of the plant consistent with company schedules and policies. The Supervisor will monitor and coordinate effective and efficient communication to Team Leaders and Employees through proactive, high participation, work team involvement, and is responsible for the administration of policies and practices of the Company. In addition, the Supervisor will implement the Berry Global values and will be a major reason we achieve our vision of being the dominant supplier of value added films in the industry.
Position Responsibilities:
- Administers and manages the plant operations safety and quality programs, to provide a safety and quality minded working environment.
- Responsible for promoting a working environment that incorporates a teamwork philosophy.
- Coaches the work teams and develops decision-making criteria adhering to the best practices.
- Assists in the selection, training, evaluations, and promoting of work team employees to provide effective and efficient operations.
- Will be required to attend morning meeting and other meetings as necessary.
- Participates in process improvement efforts and helps direct process personnel on a day-to-day basis.
- Responsible for incorporating ISO principles into daily quality culture.(S.O.S checklists and planning sheets etc)
- Works towards developing and transferring of traditionally non-manufacturing skills to work team members, as needed, to build work team self-sufficiency.
- Complete the shift report for the day with all the required data and email the appropriate personnel.
- Assumes other duties as defined by the Plant Manager.
- Meet daily with maintenance personnel to schedule equipment changes, predictive and preventive maintenance planning.
- Manage Kronos records for employees on shift.
- Prioritize the rework material for teams.
- Must be open-minded to change and have the creative ability to continuously think of new ways to be more efficient.
- Do a walk around with the off going Supervisor prior to the start of shift. Ensure the quality of material running is acceptable.
- Meet with the Team Leader prior to start of shift and discuss the schedule, gathered training documents, line schedules and a list of PM’s you know will be needed for the day.
- Check the QA data input for the shift and make sure everything is in spec. Report on this in the daily shift report to confirm completion.
- Keep and manage training records for each employee. Give the Team Leader what they need for the day and turn in completed training.
- Fill in for Team Leader when needed to reduce OT.
- Day Shift Supervisors input webeff data for the morning meeting notes.
- Continuous Improvement involvement to reduce costs.
- Make sure all employees are held to the highest safety, quality and production standards
- Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Ensure all GDC and Observation entries have been completed by your shift and turned in on time.
- Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
- Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
- Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
- Lead all meetings with safety.
- Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
